🎨 EQ & NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

Children are not always able to express their emotions through words. Happiness, curiosity, disappointment, or thoughts that have yet to take shape in sentences can sometimes be communicated through their eyes, facial expressions, gestures, and even the colors and strokes they choose in a drawing.

That is why art activities can provide children with opportunities to explore their emotions and develop their ability to express themselves.

💙 How does Global Art nurture EQ through its learning programme?

🖌️ 1. COMMUNICATING BEYOND WORDS

When creating art, children use colors, images, lines, and composition to convey their ideas. This process gives them an opportunity to express their thoughts visually, even when they may find it difficult to put their feelings into words.

🧠 2. THE DQS METHOD – LEARNING TO THINK AND EXPRESS

Through the Discussion – Question – Suggestion (DQS) method, teachers encourage children to observe, generate ideas, explore different ways of expressing themselves, and explain their creative decisions.

From choosing images to arranging details, children have opportunities to learn how to communicate messages, express their thoughts, and become more confident in sharing their ideas with others.

💗 3. TEACHERS – GUIDING CHILDREN ON THEIR JOURNEY OF EMOTIONAL DISCOVERY

Teachers do not impose a single answer or a specific way of expressing ideas. Instead, they observe each child’s creative process, ask thoughtful questions, and listen to each child’s story.

Through conversations such as “What would you like to express in your artwork?” or “Can you tell me more about your idea?”, children are encouraged to recognise their emotions, understand their own perspectives, and learn how to share them with others.

🌱 4. FROM SELF-EXPRESSION TO UNDERSTANDING OTHERS

When presenting their artwork, listening to their friends, and discovering different perspectives, children have opportunities to develop confidence, active listening skills, and empathy – all important elements of emotional intelligence (EQ).

✨ At Global Art, learning art is not just about learning how to create a picture. It is also an opportunity for children to learn how to observe, think, express themselves, and connect with the world around them.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful part is not the artwork a child completes, but everything they discover and learn throughout the creative journey.
